I am the pregnant mama, thus, won't be participating in the women's triathlon this year. And I'm actually a bit bummed. I'll be watching with envy as Erin, Rachael, and Stephanie get expert tips and training from Dave Pruetz, the owner of In Training LLC, and a USA Triathlon Certified Coach. I am missing out! I've often thought it would be nice to get a trainer for many reasons including: motivate me to workout when I just want to sit home in my pjs, increase the intensity of my workouts because some days I just feel like being "slow", be accountable to someone in aiming for a goal, and most of all tell me how to get rid of my mama flab arms.
I am not a triathlete, but last year a group of ladies from my neighborhood (including myself) participated in the Women's Tri together. We had a great time! Seriously, just the atmosphere and excitement of being part of the triathlon left us on a high for the next week at least. Even though I had bike issues, it was definitely a highlight of the summer. I really hope many mamas, first-timers included, get involved in the sport of triathlon. Swimming, biking, and running will leave you in better shape than ever and in my opinion, a better mama at home.
My third child is due in April, so maybe (and that's MAYBE!) by September I can attempt a sprint distance tri again. Here is family photo: my husband Brian, a professor in the b-school at BYU, my son Landon (four) and daughter Maili (will be three in April).
