I have a friend that runs on a treadmill every morning. The treadmill is located in her house and it
faces a wall. This fact completely boggles my mind.
I can’t imagine using a cardio machine without the benefit
of music or television…it is simply not something I can do. Music helps me maintain my pace – listening
to up-tempo music increases my intensity and takes my mind off of fatigue. Take a look around the gym…I’m not the only
one with headphones on so clearly I’m not alone in my idea that music is as
vital to a good work out as a substantial sports bra.
But the music appetite that that applies to my general
listening preferences go out the window when I’m searching for new workout
tunes. Lurking inside every sane person
is a runner/biker that listens to inappropriate, and as far as I’m concerned,
incredibly embarrassing music. It’s not
about the lyrics or the talent of the singer…it’s about the beat. So help me, I give you my latest embarrassing
purchases from the iTunes catalog:
“She Wants To Move” by N.E.R.D (Clean)
“Gold Digger” by Kanye West & Jamie Foxx (Clean)
“Gone Daddy Gone” by Gnarls Barkley
“Maneater” by Nelly Furtado
“Me Against the Music” by Britney Spears & Madonna
“Make It Happen” by Mariah Carey (an oldie, but a goodie)
“Let’s Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez
I share an iTunes library with my husband and my workout music
purchases lead him to make comments like, “So…you’re bringing Sexy Back, huh?”
Sure am.
